Poland Passport Holder? India e-Visa is Eligible!

Poland fits inside India approximately ten times over. That scale difference tells you something about what awaits — not just geographically but in terms of sheer variety of landscape, architecture, food, and culture. From the medieval old towns of Krakow and Warsaw, Polish land in one of the world's most ancient, layered civilizations. The contrast between India and Poland tends to be the point.

Before any of that, there is one step to complete: an India e-Visa. Polish nationals require one before entering India; no visa on arrival, no visa-free window. It is applied for online, fully before travel, and delivered to your email. Here is everything you need.

Who India e-Visa Applies To? and Who It Doesn't?

If you hold an ordinary Polish passport, you are eligible for India's e-Visa system.

If you hold an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card alongside your Polish passport, you are exempt from the visa requirement entirely, no application needed.

Usually, diplomatic and official Polish passport holders are not eligible for an India e-Visa. They need to apply directly through the Embassy of India in Warsaw, which handles all consular visa applications for Polish nationals.

One further exception is worth knowing about, even though it applies to a small number of travelers. Under a bilateral agreement between India and Poland, Polish diplomatic passport holders may enter India without any visa for stays of up to 90 days. This sits separately from the India e-Visa system entirely and only applies to diplomatic passports specifically.

Ordinary and official passport holders don't qualify for this exemption and follow the e-Visa or embassy-visa route described above depending on their passport type.

The Three Categories Most Polish Travelers Apply To!

The India e-Visa system has nine categories. For the vast majority of Polish applicants, three cover every scenario.

  1. The India e-Tourist Visa is available in 30 days (double entry, valid from first arrival), 1 year (multiple entry), and 5 years (multiple entry). Both longer options cap total India stay at 180 days per calendar year. It covers holidays, sightseeing, visiting family, yoga and Ayurveda retreats, and short recreational courses not exceeding six months. If you're heading to India for any of these reasons, whether Rajasthan, Kerala, Varanasi, or Goa, this is your category.
  2. The India e-Business Visa covers trade visits, meetings, and commercial activity. Valid for one year from ETA grant with multiple entries — continuous stay per visit not exceeding 180 days. Poland's growing trade relationship with India through EU-India channels makes this an increasingly used category.
  3. The India e-Medical Visa is for treatment at a recognized Indian hospital, including Ayurvedic and traditional medicine. Valid for 60 days from first arrival with triple entry. A letter from the treating hospital in India on official letterhead is mandatory. Up to two companions may travel on e-Medical Attendant Visas under identical validity conditions.

For other categories, six further options exist under the e-Visa scheme:

  1. e-Student Visa for enrolment at a recognized Indian institution
  2. e-Conference / e-Ayush visa for short-term wellness treatment under Ayurveda, Yoga, or Naturopathy — relevant given how many Polish travelers come specifically for retreats
  3. e-Transit visa for a break in a longer journey rather than a standalone visit
  4. e-Film visa for accredited production crews
  5. e-Miscellaneous visa for permitted purposes that don't fit the other categories
  6. e-Entry visa covers a small share of Polish applications compared to Tourist, Business, and Medical.

If your trip doesn't fit the three main categories, check requirements through IVC Visas before assuming the Tourist category will cover it, applying under the wrong category is one of the more common causes of rejection.

Fellow Central European travelers from Czech Republic, Germany and Hungary follow the same requirements for India e-Visa process.

Remember: Passport and photograph are must for every India e-visa category that you are applying for.

What Does an India e-Visa Actually Cost for Polish Applicants?

Fees are set by visa category and duration, not as a flat rate, so it's worth knowing the actual numbers before you start rather than discovering them at checkout.

For the 30-day e-Tourist Visa, the government fee is around $25 for most applications, with the official processing running roughly 7–9 working days under standard conditions. The 1-year and 5-year Tourist categories cost around $40 and $200 respectively. Business and Medical categories carry different government fees- $145 and $80.

If your travel dates are close and you can't absorb a week or more of processing time, an IVC"s express or priority option is typically available for an additional charge, which prioritizes your application on the service-provider side rather than changing the government's own review process, since that part of the timeline is fixed regardless of which service tier you choose.

Because fees are nationality-specific and do change periodically, the safest approach is always to check the current breakdown for Poland specifically before paying, rather than relying on a figure from a previous trip or a general India e-Visa guide.

Application Process through IVC Visas

  1. Choose either normal or express service(based on how early you want your ETA to arrive). You may also choose to fill your application on your own, with IVC's guidance or you can le IVC handle it. Either way, a pre-submission document and photo check is included.
  2. Complete a simple IVC form with your passport details exactly as they appear- Nationality(Poland), passport number and name; and other details like contact number and address, family information. An official India e-visa application requires these details.
  3. Upload documents in English with plain alphabet file names.
  4. Pay the visa fee. While checking out at the IVC portal, you find a visa fee breakdown(service fee + govt. fee) for your nationality. India Visa fees varies by nationality and visa type. Always verify before paying!
  5. At last, your approved ETA arrives by email as a PDF. Print it, confirm status reads 'GRANTED' on the official India Visa portal, and track your application through IVC at any point.

Before You Board, Get Everything Ready as per the Guidelines!

1️⃣ Your India e-Visa permits entry through designated airports, seaports, or land ports. No other crossing is permitted. You may exit from any port.

Recommendation: Check the authorized ports list before booking as the official list updates eventually.

2️⃣ Since April 2026, the digital e-Arrival Card is mandatory for all foreign nationals. You must complete it within 72 hours before arrival via the official portal or Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app, before you board.

Recommendation: As a Poland passport holder, you must complete e-Arrival Card before the given timeline.

3️⃣ An approved ETA authorizes travel but does not guarantee entry if you don't carry other documents with you. Immigration officers at India e-visa counter ask for your boarding ticket, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds.

Recommendation: Carry your printed ETA, a confirmed return ticket, accommodation details, and proof of sufficient funds.

4️⃣ India e-Visas are non-extendable and non-conversion. If unable to depart within validity, apply at FRRO before expiry. Overstaying is an illegal act under Indian immigration law, and so is doing business activities on an e-tourist visa.

Recommendation: Always stay within your visa validity. Apply with FRRO only in emergency cases. Your activities' purpose should match your visa type.

5️⃣ Polish nationals with Pakistani lineage through a parent or grandparent are not eligible for an India e-Visa.

Recommendation: Apply for a regular/sticker visa through the Indian Mission in Warsaw.

6️⃣ Defence and military background holders are similarly ineligible.

Recommendation: Apply for a regular/sticker visa through the Indian Mission in Warsaw.

7️⃣ Religious conversion activity is prohibited on all visa types.

8️⃣ Travel on the same passport used to apply.

Best Time for Polish Travelers to Apply and Visit

Poland to India is roughly a 10-hour flight, typically routed through Warsaw Chopin via Vienna, Amsterdam, Istanbul, or Dubai before landing in Delhi or Mumbai. October through March remains the recommended travel window for most of the country, once the monsoon has cleared and before the pre-summer heat sets in across the north, though Kerala and other southern coastal regions stay pleasant slightly later into the season.

What's less obvious is that when you apply matters almost as much as when you travel.

India's e-Visa processing is officially quoted at a 72-hour to 4-day minimum, but real-world turnaround varies with application volume. October through February is the busiest stretch of the year for India e-Visa applications globally, and during this peak, processing has recently been running closer to 8–10 business days rather than the official minimum, a gap that catches travelers off guard when they apply a week out expecting the faster figure. April and September, by contrast, are shoulder months, application volumes are lower, and real-world processing tends to sit much closer to the official window.

At IVC Visas, every application is reviewed before reaching the portal. The India e-Visa fee is non- a pre-submission check is the simplest protection against losing it.
