India e-Visa for Citizens of Czech Republic

Dreaming of sunrise at the Taj Mahal, the backwaters of Kerala, or a plate of butter chicken in Old Delhi? If you're a Czech citizen, getting there is more straightforward than you might think. India's e-visa system has replaced the old embassy-queue routine with something far simpler: an online form, a handful of documents, and a short wait for approval.

That said, "online" doesn't always mean "easy." The government portal is functional but unforgiving. A single mismatched detail or non-compliant photo can stall your application for days. IVC breaks down exactly what Czech applicants need, what it costs, and how the process actually works from start to finish.

Is India's e-Visa Available to Czech Citizens?

Yes. Czech Republic is on the eligible nationality list, which now covers travelers from over 165 countries. If you hold an ordinary Czech passport and you're traveling for tourism, business, medical treatment, or a conference, you can apply entirely online instead of visiting the Indian Embassy in Prague.

Before going further, it's worth confirming a few basics:

  1. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in India, with at least two blank pages.
  2. The India e-visa is not the same as visa-on-arrival. Your Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) must be approved and printed before you board your flight, India does not issue visas at the airport for Czech nationals and the same goes for the eligible nationals of Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Kenya.
  3. You'll need to travel on the same passport you used to apply. If you get a new one after approval, carry both at immigration.
  4. OCI card holders are exempt from applying for an India e-visa.
  5. Citizens with Pakistani linage, defense or military background and official or diplomatic passport are not eligible for an India e-visa. They must apply for a regular/sticker visa instead.

How we help: Rather than digging through government pages to confirm your eligibility, you can check it directly through and also, learn which countries are exempt from India e-visa requirements.

Which India e-Visa Category Fits Your Trip?

There isn't a single "India e-visa"; the India e-visa system is split by purpose. Here's how the main categories compare:

Besides these, applicants from Czech republic can also avail other India e-visa categories like e-student visa, e-film visa, e-production visa and many more.

What Documents Do Czech Applicants Need?

Get these ready before you start the form:

1. Your Ordinary Passport

  1. Valid for at least 6 months past your arrival date
  2. At least 2 blank pages for immigration stamps
  3. No tears or significant damage

If you don't have e regular/ordinary passport, you need to apply through Embassy of India in Prague for a regular India visa.

2. A Passport-Style Photo

  1. Plain white background, no glasses, neutral expression
  2. Taken within the last 6 months
  3. JPEG format, correct file size

3. A Clear Scan of Your Passport's Bio-Data Page

4. Supporting Documents (depending on purpose)

  1. Tourists: rough itinerary or accommodation details
  2. Business travelers: Invitation letter from an Indian company and a business card
  3. Medical visitors: Appointment letter from the treating hospital

Photo specifications trip up a surprising number of first-time applicants, wrong dimensions or a shadowed background are common rejection triggers. If you've run into confusing terminology before, our page on common application mistakes is worth a quick read first.

How to Apply with IVC: Step by Step

Here's the IVC process in practical terms.

Step 1: Start your application.

Select Apply Now, then choose your nationality, visa category, number of applicants traveling together, and expected date of arrival in India.

Step 2: Fill in your details

This is a straightforward form covering the same information required on the original government India e-visa application - personal details, passport information, and trip purpose, reference contacts.

You'll also choose between normal or rush processing here, depending on how soon you're traveling.

Step 3: Upload documents and pay

The full fee breakdown, including service and bank charges, appears clearly at checkout before you confirm anything.

Step 4: IVC review

Your information and documents are checked against the original application's requirements, your passport, invitation letter, hospital letter and other supporting documents. If anything's missing or inconsistent, we'll reach out before submitting on your behalf, this single step catches a lot of issues that would otherwise cause delays.

If you are filling the application on your own at the official portal, you also have the option to review your application through IVC experts, before submitting.

Step 5: Submission and tracking.

Once submitted, you'll receive an application ID to track progress, either through the government portal or directly on our platform.

Step 6: Receive your ETA

Your approved India e-visa arrives as a PDF at the email you provided. Print it; immigration officers want a physical copy alongside your passport, not just a phone screen.

What Every Applicant from Czech Republic Should Know Before Flying

✔️ Entry and Exit Points

India e-Visa holders may enter India through 33 designated airports, 33 designated seaports, or 4 designated land borders. First entry through these land ports is permitted; entry through any other land crossing is not. Exit may be through any authorized Immigration Check Post. Verify your entry point against the authorized entry and exit ports list before booking your itinerary.

✔️ A granted visa is not a guaranteed entry

An approved ETA authorizes travel, it does not guarantee entry. Immigration officers at the port of arrival retain full discretion. Carry your printed ETA, match your declared purpose to your visa category, and have proof of return or onward travel ready.

✔️ Stay within your visa's purpose

Conducting business on an India e-Tourist Visa, or tourism activities on an India e-Business Visa, violates visa conditions and can result in denial of entry or deportation.

✔️ Complete the e-Arrival Card before boarding

All travelers to India must complete the digital e-Arrival Card within 72 hours before arrival, via the official portal or the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app. Do this before you board, not at the airport. On arrival, biometrics will be captured and your passport stamped. Ensure the immigration stamp is affixed, if missed, contact the nearest FRRO.

✔️ Extension and conversion of India Visa

India e-Visas are non-extendable and non-convertible. If genuinely unable to depart within validity, apply for an extension online at the e-FRRO portal before expiry. Remaining beyond expiry without approval is an illegal overstay. For long-term purposes like employment, full-time study, research, exit India and apply through the Embassy of India in Prague.

✔️ Pakistani lineage

Czech Republic nationals whose parents or grandparents were born in or were permanently resident in Pakistan are not eligible for an India e-Visa. A regular visa through the Indian Mission is required.

✔️ Same passport rule

Travel on the exact passport used to apply. If renewed since applying, carry both passports to Indian immigration.

✔️ Other restrictions that apply regardless of visa type

  1. Military, defense, security, or police background holders are not eligible for an India e-Visa.
  2. Religious preaching, distributing religious material, or any conversion-related activity is prohibited.
  3. If you have visited a Yellow Fever endemic country within 6 days of arrival, carry a valid vaccination certificate.
  4. Protected Area Permits (PAP) are required for parts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, apply separately in advance.

When Do Czech Travelers Usually Visit India, and Why?

Czech travelers tend to head to India in two main windows: the cooler months from October through March, when the climate across most of the country is far more comfortable for European visitors, and a smaller spring surge tied to yoga and wellness retreats, a category that's grown noticeably among Czech tourists. Rajasthan's forts, Kerala's backwaters, and Himalayan trekking routes consistently come up in early research from first-time Czech visitors.

What Czech Travelers Tend to Underestimate

  1. Distances inside India. India is not a country you cross in a day. The distance from Delhi to Kerala is roughly the same as Prague to Marrakech. Build realistic travel time into any itinerary, especially if combining multiple regions.
  2. Water and food adjustment. Drink only bottled or filtered water. Street food is one of India's genuine highlights but easing in gradually — rather than eating adventurously from day one; avoids the stomach adjustment period ruining the first few days of the trip.
  3. Cultural dress codes at temples and religious sites. Covered shoulders and legs are required at most Hindu temples and all mosques and gurudwaras. A lightweight scarf or shawl is worth packing specifically for this.

What Czech applicants tend to look for in a visa service is fairly consistent: clear answers, a human checkpoint reviewing documents before submission, and confidence that their data and payment are handled responsibly. That's the specific gap IVC is built to close, not replacing the official process, but making it harder to get wrong.

How Long Does Processing Take? When to apply?

The government's stated processing window is 72–96 hours, though real-world timelines can run longer, particularly during peak season (October–March). A safer practical benchmark is to apply at least one to two weeks before departure.

The fee must be paid no later than four days before your expected travel date, or the application won't be processed at all.

If your travel window is tight, rush processing at the application stage helps move things along on our end, though it's still ultimately subject to government approval timelines, not a guaranteed turnaround.
